If you are unsure about the contents of this table, please note the following or read the Membership FAQ.

  • Click on the Description links to find out about the available categories of membership.

  • Friends are people who paid us money to support our Bid; again, this means that they can attend Interaction at a reduced rate.

  • Concession Countries. As announced in Press Release 35, we are offering a discount of 50% on adult and child attending membership rates to members resident in the following countries: Albania, Belarus, Bulgaria, Moldova, Romania, Russian Federation and Ukraine. Please note that memberships bought at the concession rate may only be transferred to other concession country residents.

Types of Membership

Full Attending

An Attending Membership in Interaction. A very small number of program items may have capacity restrictions or materials fees; these will be announced in advance. This membership includes all voting rights in the World Science Fiction Society. This means that you get the right to nominate for the 2005 and 2006 Hugo Awards, and to vote on the 2005 Hugo Awards. You also may attend and participate in the WSFS Business Meeting, which is held at a Worldcon and makes the rules for the Hugo Awards and the selection of future Worldcons. You will also be eligible to vote on the site of the 2008 Worldcon (subject to payment of an additional fee that makes you a supporting member of the 2008 Worldcon). You receive all generally distributed Worldcon publications, including Progress Reports and the Souvenir Book.

A 50% discount on Attending memberships is available to members resident in concession countries. See above or Press Release 35 for details.

Children and Infants

The Child Rate applies to those aged 7-15 at the start of the convention, i.e. on 4th August 2005. Infants - those aged 6 or under on that date - are free.

Attending Memberships for Children and Infants include admission to Interaction under the supervision of an adult, but do not include publications or voting rights for the Hugo Awards or Worldcon Site Selection. We have now announced details of our child care provision. Please note that the child care facility is only open to children and infants who are registered members of the convention. Children and Infants may have full Attending memberships (and thus have publications and voting rights) instead of Child or Infant memberships, but must still be supervised by an adult.

A 50% discount on Child memberships is available to members resident in concession countries. See above or Press Release 35 for details.

Supporting

A Supporting Membership includes all of the rights and privileges of an attending membership except the right to attend Interaction. You get the Hugo Award and Site Selection voting rights, and will receive all generally distributed publications. This membership allows you to support the Worldcon and participate in it without actually attending the convention. You can always upgrade your membership from Supporting to Attending by paying the difference between the "New Supporting" and "New Attending" membership rates in force at the time of conversion. If you voted in the 2005 Worldcon Site Selection election, you are automatically a Supporting member of Interaction as a result of paying your US$40 voting fee.

Day Admission

A Day Admission provides access to the Convention for a single day of the convention, but does not include WSFS rights (i.e. the right to vote in the Hugo Awards or Site Selection) or the full set of convention publications, although you will receive the Convention Guide listing all events and activities occurring at the Convention. Full information on Day Admission is available here.
